Godfrey Okoye University has once again proved its intellectual dominance on the stage, sweeping major awards across two prestigious competitions: the Royal Rhetorics Women’s Open 2026 and the Valhalla Open 1.0 The First Landing 2026.
At the Royal Rhetorics Women’s Open 2026, GOUNI speakers practically owned the public speaking podium.
Ifeanyi Best Kamsiyochukwu claimed the title of Best Public Speaker, closely followed by Favour Egbogu as 3rd Best Speaker, Ajoiyi Kosisochukwu as 4th Best Speaker and 2nd Runner-Up overall, Okoro Daniella as 9th Best Speaker, and Chiaha Wendy rounding out the top ten as 10th Best Speaker.
On the debate front, Favour Egbogu secured the 8th Best Speaker award.
Demonstrating equal prowess in adjudication, Ojiako Judith Amarachi earned the 3rd Best Public Speaking Judge award, with Donald Chinedu-Ogbonna breaking as a top debate judge.
The momentum reached global heights at the Valhalla Open 1.0, an international tournament bringing together debaters and judges across Africa and Asia, featuring 192 debate teams, 112 debate adjudicators, 220 public speaking competitors, and 33 public speaking judges.
Amidst this massive field, GOUNI debaters and adjudicators showcased remarkable skill. Breaking speakers included Favour Egbogu at 4th, Stephanie Chika at 13th, Donald Chinedu at 16th, Chidiogo Aniakor at 27th, and Ibezim Samuel at 32nd.
Special recognition goes to Chinedu Ogbonna Donald, who broke 5th overall in team standings and earned 12th Best Speaker in the Open category.
In the Public Speaking category, Favour Egbogu clinched 4th Best Speaker, while GOUNI judges Amarachi Judith Ojiako and Anene-Arinze Tikuechukwu earned individual medals as 2nd Best Judge (Finalist) and 10th Best Judge respectively.
These outstanding achievements highlight the unparalleled dedication, eloquence, and critical thinking cultivated within the Godfrey Okoye University debate family.
